Quarter Arcades Gumball Machine: A Fun Desk Accessory?

Quick Answer

Yes, the Quarter Arcades Gumball Machine is a fun desk accessory if you love retro arcade aesthetics, but it's more about decoration than function—so consider your space and expectations before buying.

Why It's More Than a Toy

The Quarter Arcades Gumball Machine is designed to complement your Quarter Arcades setup, adding an extra layer of realism to your mini arcade corner. It's not just a random novelty—it's a themed piece that fits seamlessly with the official Numskull Designs line.

If you're building a retro arcade corner at home, this gumball machine can serve as the perfect finishing touch, making your display feel more authentic. It's also small enough to sit on a desk without taking over your workspace.

The Gumball Factor: Real or Not?

While the name suggests it dispenses gum, the product is primarily a decorative replica. The catalog warns that we can't be held responsible for any used gum found stuck to your arcade machines or carpet—a playful nod that it's not designed for actual gumball use.

If you're expecting a fully functional dispenser, you might be disappointed. But if you're after a quirky conversation piece, it delivers exactly that.

Price and Value: What You Pay For

At $17.99 (compared to a $29.99 catalog price), it's an affordable add-on for collectors. The discount makes it an easy impulse buy, but consider whether it adds enough value to your specific setup.

For the price of a movie ticket, you get a licensed piece of arcade memorabilia that can spark nostalgia and complement your existing Quarter Arcades cabinets.

Decision Rules: Should You Buy It?

• If you own Quarter Arcades cabinets: Buy it. It's designed to enhance your setup with an extra layer of realism. Check that you have a stable surface to place it near your cabinets.
• If you want a functional gumball dispenser: Skip it. This is a decorative replica, not a working machine.
• If you're on a tight budget: Consider it only if you have extra room in your budget for a novelty item. At $17.99, it's affordable but not essential. Weigh it against other accessories that might fit your collection better.
