The daily assembly keeps the kids engaged, and watching Shrek slowly come together on the mantelpiece is way more fun than a boring chocolate calendar. The pieces fit snugly enough that he actually stays standing once December 25th rolls around.

My kids argued over whose turn it was to snap in the next piece every night — the daily build really paces it out so the anticipation lasts. By Christmas Eve, Shrek was fully assembled and looking gloriously grumpy on the mantel.

We built Shrek piece by piece each evening, and the daily assembly ritual made the wait for Christmas feel genuinely fun instead of tedious. The character looks impressively detailed once fully put together, and my kids were actually excited to wake up and find the next numbered bag.
